Most ski and snowmobile trails in Minnesota have either been downgraded to poor condition or have been closed due to a lack of snow. One exception is the Gunflint Trail running northwest out of Grand Marais where skiers can still find nice conditions. More seasonable temperatures will stick around for the next week or so, and should help retain the base along these trails -- skiing may be possible into April!  As always, please call ahead for the most current trail conditions before traveling.

Northeast Region

Grand Marais/Gunflint Trail
In Cook County, just outside of Grand Marais up the Gunflint Trail, conditions for the Central Gunflint Ski Trail System are good. Two to three inches of fresh snowfall has allowed groomers to work fresh snow back into the base. Trails continue to be groomed with a tiller. Overall, surface conditions are a mixture of frozen snow and fresh powder. The trail base remains 6–7 inches deep on average. Similar conditions are reported for the ski trails at Pincushion Mountain. Check out the web cam images from web cams placed at sites throughout the Gunflint Trail!
